The Best of ace, 2004
The Best of ace was staged in the Armadillo, SECC, Glasgow on Saturday 20 November 2004 as a celebration of five years of ace concerts. The programme featured the favourite and best loved songs from the previous four concerts, and the chorus enjoyed performing them as much as the audience enjoyed listening to them.
Our host this year was Neil Mudie who hosted our concerts in 2002 and he proved popular with everyone.
We were delighted to raise £6,100 for Breast Cancer Care (Scotland).
Below is a copy of the report of the concert by John Urquhart, representative of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (Scotland).
Artistic Concert Experiences - "The Best of ace "
Directors: Richard Johnston & Rona McKenzie
Musical Director: Richard Johnston
ace returned to The Clyde Auditorium (The Armadillo) to stage this year's concert which was a selection of favourite numbers from the previous four years. It was an excellent programme, providing a good balance between chorus and solo numbers, and new and not so new musicals. It would be wrong to single out individual numbers for special praise when every number was performed so well. The chorus looked and sounded stunning! Great credit also to the members of the Artistic Concert Experiences orchestra who were integral to the success of the concert. MC for the evening was Neil Mudie, who provided excellent continuity. As well as giving tremendous enjoyment to chorus and audience alike, ace raises a considerable amount of money for charity.
ace had the pleasure of presenting a cheque for £6,100 to Margaret Bisset (centre) of Breast Cancer Care Scotland.
The presentation was made by the Directors, Richard Johnston and Rona McKenzie, with members of ace looking on.
